| Day 1 & 2: Kalahari Desert: We travel south into the Kalahari Desert, Green acacias and swaying grass contrast starkly against the red sand of the Kalahari Dunes. Camelthorn Trees provide shade for a multitude of desert-adapted animals and serve as a sharp silhouette against the setting sun on our afternoon nature drive. A variety of antelope, smaller mammals, insects and reptiles inhabit this desert-explore this specialized ecosystem on a scenic morning walk. Our Lodge serves as the perfect oasis to enjoy the afternoon at the pool or relax on the spacious patio of our room. Overnight; Kalahari Anib Lodge- Dinner. Day 3 & 4: Fish River Canyon, Nama Karoo Desert: This morning we travel further south into the Nama Karoo Desert, a primordial environ isolated by mountain massifs. Here the second largest canyon on earth divides on of Namibian’s most pristine landscapes into seeming eternity. On a nature drive in the afternoon we observe the fragile desert ecosystem and the plant life that thrives there. Quiver Trees pose as gentle giants during a sundowner drink on top of a hill. The next day we visit the daunting Fish River Canyon and enjoy the panoramic view into one of Namibian’s most superior wilderness areas. Overnight; Canon Lodge- Breakfast and Dinner Day 5 & 6: Wild Horses, Succulent Karoo Desert: After Breakfast we travel to the Succulent Karoo Desert. After winter rains, this desert unfolds in a carpet of flowers and an explosion of bright colours. It is one of the 20 most important biomes in the world and counts as the most specie diverse desert on earth. We will explore the sweeping desert plains on a nature drive in the later afternoon, next day we travel to a ghost town that was left to the hands of the relentless desert. Other attractions visited consist of the Wild Horses of the Namib Desert, Diaz Point and the colonial town of Luderitz. Overnight; Klein-Aus Vista- Breakfast and Dinner Day 7 & 8: Sosusvlei, Namib Desert: We travel north into the oldest desert on earth, formed by the effect of the cold Benguela Current. Due to early morning fog, this arid desert becomes a life supporting structure for all its living organisms. Our lodge stands at the foot of unique petrified dunes, which we will explore on a nature drive in the afternoon. The next morning we travel to the highest dunes on earth, experiencing this soulful, awe-inspiring place at sunrise. At Sossusvlei we clamber the magnificent dunes to admire this desert from above. We will also visit Sesriem Canyon, gorged out by might of the Tsauchab River. Overnight; Namib Desert Lodge- Breakfast and Dinner Day 9: Return to Windhoek: After a relaxed breakfast we travel via the Namib Desert back to Windhoek, situated in a valley of the Auas Mountains. Here we get dropped off at our accommodation of choice, and enjoy the rest of the day at Leisure. Overnight; Windhoek- Breakfast. |
