About The Founder of Uakii Wilderness

A descendant of the Mbanderu-Herero tribe that was almost wiped out during the First World War, Otjiherero speaking Namibian born in the 1970’s. He grew up on a village settlement in the far eastern part of Omaheke Region bordering Botswana, as a boy he often roamed the bush field with a local catapult and dogs herding sheep and goats.

His formative years as a child were spent with the SanBushmen people, so he have had a Bushmen &Damara-Nama influence from a cultural point of view. Because of that Peter-Hain became much in love with nature and its meaning to people and other living creatures and the same time had a great passion for different traditions, cultures and the history of our Namibian people that has shaped our unique ways of living today. He strongly believe in building bridges across cultures and transcending cultural barriers in a non-intrusive and respectful manner upholding the integrity of all human beings in their own unique way.

Peter- Hain has represented Namibia at a number of regional and International tourism trade/consumer fairs mainly in South Africa, Botswana, England, Holland, Germany, Finland Dubai and Mauritius. He firmly believes that your contacts with African cultures are a key element in what you expect to experience during your visit to Africa. His years of experience working for various community-based tourism projects and organizations including the Namibia Community Based Tourism Association (NACOBTA) make him the right person to provide you with a true African-Namibian Wilderness Experience.

Peter-Hain Uaakisa Kazapua

Peter-Hain worked for several companies in the Namibian Tourism Industry including Wilderness Safaris Namibia and Namibia Community Based Association (now a Trust). Peter-Hain was the founder and Co-ordinator of the first ever Community Based Information Centre while working for Nacobta. The pioneer of his own tourism company called Uakii Wilderness Survival and Gobabis.net website. Providing some very unique Cultural and Guided tours of the Kalahari Bushmen, Ovaherero and Batswanas. Gobabis.net is to market Gobabis, Omaheke region and Namibia as a whole to tourists, other businesses and at the same time very importantly supports the promotion of cultural, community based tourism products and entrepreneurship.

Peter-Hain “Uakii”, as the pioneer of his business & gobabis.net is a local entrepreneur with 15 years of experience in tourism industry and have travelled abroad attending tourism trade and consumer fairs. He has being featured in the following documentaries with BBC Current Affairs London : Tropic of Capricorn-Namibia & Botswana, BBC-Tribal Wives series II www.diverse.tv, Human Planet-BBC Natural History, Deserts-Life in Furnace. Peter-Hain was also been nominated for a top guide award (The Wanderlust World Guide Awards 2011) (AiTo The Association of Independent Tour Operators) www.worldguideawards.co.uk this recommendation was made by the famous TV Traveller Simon Reeve and writer of the book One Day in September.

His tourism working experience, training, marketing and product development has been through Wilderness Safaris, Namibia Community Based Tourism Association and with Uakii Wilderness as the founder. We strongly believe in building bridges across cultures and transcending cultural barriers in a non-intrusive and respectful manner by upholding the integrity and celebrating the uniqueness of all human beings.

He is holding a Diploma in Marketing and certificate in Tourism from the International University of Management and 14years’ experience in both marketing and tourism local, regional and International. During this up to date he worked for Wilderness Safaris Namibia, Namibia Community Based Tourism Association and Uakii Wilderness Survival.
